Porpoise Bay Village Sechelt, British Columbia This community planning study was initiated for the rezoning of 110 acres of waterfront property. The owner hired our group to design a sustainable community in order to provide higher quality housing and to benefit future gererations by integrating ecological principles. Our report titled 'The Seven Principles of Sustainability' ensured the rezoning of the property. It won enthusiastic support of the Sechelt Planning Department to the extent that they developed a set of planning guidelines based on our report. The community plan integrates pedestrian friendly streets, a variety of housing types, mixed land use, water and energy efficient building guidelines, the preservation of natural areas on the site, and an incremental growth strategy.
